Nov 2013: Freeman Chapel CME Church (Ashdown, Arkansas) has dedicated itself to addressing the needs of children in poverty. Working in partnership with the Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty, the Church has decided to:
- Utilize announcements during Sunday worship and on the Church’s main bulletin board for presenting information on employment, housing, and poverty in their local community.
- Expand their involvement in “One Church – One School” through an “alternative high school”, and to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas Food baskets to needy families.
- Recruit church members to volunteer at local schools as tutors and special event workers.
- Collect donations, every three months, of clothes, shoes, and household items for the local Domestic Violence Prevention Resale Shop.
