KY Annual Conference (AMEZ) Implements Multiple Campaign Projects

Apr 2015: The Kentucky Annual Conference continues its activism to make a difference in the lives of children in poverty. Rev. Lillian Grinter, Campaign liaison, works with her Campaign team in implementing ministries to children throughout the Conference. She has scheduled “check up meetings” to receive reports from her team. The following six reported projects on their ministries to children in poverty have been exciting involvements for the churches and their members.

“Wear it Forward” resulted in new coats, hats, and gloves being given to Kentucky Public Schools. The principal of one school responded “We cannot thank you enough! It was a wonderful surprise to us and really will truly make a difference in the culture of our school.”

“Angel Tree” is a project of the Louisville District’s Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society. The Society’s members have embraced 20 children of inmates so that these children’s ongoing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.

“Miracle on Broadway” provided toys, clothes, blankets, and personal items for children through the Wayside Christian Mission.

“Partners in Hope” provided financial contributions to The Children’s Defense Fund and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

“Blessings in a Backpack” worked with NO KID HUNGRY to provide nutritious food to children and to empower and educate low-income families about ways to attain adequate and nourishing food.

And on March 15, 2015 the Kentucky Conference Children’s Sabbath was held. Rev. Jacqueline King, Pastor of Stoner Memorial AMEZ Church was the speaker.

These activities of the Kentucky Conference are a wonderful example of how local churches can launch significant programs of Christian love by working in collaboration with other churches and community organizations/institutions.
